WTTG Adds Annie Yu as Weekend Anchor

wttg_annie yu_croppedAnnie Yu has been named co-anchor for WTTG‘s “FOX 5 News Weekend.”

Yu will anchor the Washington, D.C. FOX owned station’s weekend morning show alongside Melanie Alnwick Sunday from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

“Annie is a rising star,” Dana Hahn, VP and news director for WTTG said in a statement. “We think her on-camera presence and ability to tap into the topics that our viewers want to know more about, make her a great addition to our morning show ensemble.”

Yu will continue to do live reports for WTTG’s weekday morning show. She will also cover “the world of style, fashion and home design” in a new morning show franchise called “Style File.”

Yu started at WTTG in 2004. During her time at the station she has also worked as segment producer and fill-in feature reporter.

Kevin Roseborough Named News Director at WJBK in Detroit

wjbk logoKevin Roseborough has been named vice president and news director at WJBK, the Fox owned station in Detroit.

Roseborough joined WJBK in 2004 as the station’s managing editor. Since 2006, he has been assistant news director. He replaces Dana Hahn, who was recently named news director at WTTG, the Fox owned station in Washington, D.C.

“Kevin has played a major role in the success of FOX 2 news. His excellent editorial judgment and outstanding leadership made this decision an easy one,” WJBK vice president and general manager Mike Renda said in a statement.

Before joining WJBK, Roseborough worked at the Detroit Free Press, where he held a variety of positions including night city editor.

“There is nothing more important to me than the trust we have established with our viewers by providing them with relevant local news coverage at a time when Detroit faces some of the biggest challenges in its history,” Roseborough said.

Dana Hahn Joins WTTG as News Director

Dana Hahn will join WTTG-WDCA, Fox’s duopoly in Washington, D.C., as vice president and news director.

Hahn moves to D.C. from Detroit, where she has been vice president and news director at Fox-owned WJBK for 12 years. She began her career at Fox as WJBK’s broadcast operations coordinator in 1996.

“Dana led WJBK to the #1 position and under her leadership, maintained its role as the market leader for many years. Her creativity, signature style and news acumen is unmatched and I look forward to seeing her influence on our newscasts,” WTTG VP-GM Patrick Paolini said in a statement.

Randy Wimbley Joins WJBK From WATN

Randy Wimbley is joining WJBK, the Fox O&O in Detroit, as a general assignment reporter. His first day will be July 15.

“To say reporting for FOX 2 is my dream job is an understatement,” Wimbley said in a statement. “I grew up watching this station as a kid and was schooled by WJBK’s stable of rock solid journalists as an intern. It’s an honor to now be counted among them.”

Wimbley most recently worked as a reporter for Memphis ABC affiliate WATN. He has previously worked at WNEM in Saginaw, Mich. and WUPW in Toledo.

“Randy has a passion for covering news and he’s thrilled to be back home, covering the stories that make Detroit such a unique news market,” WJBK vice president and news director Dana Hahn said.

Investigative Reporter M.L. Elrick Joining WJBK

Pulitzer Prize-winning Detroit Free Press reporter M.L. Elrick is leaving the newspaper to join Detroit Fox O&O WJBK as an investigative reporter.

“Elrick’s passion for exposing wrongdoing and standing up for our community fits perfectly with FOX 2’s problem solver team mantra,” WJBK vice president and news director Dana Hahn said, announcing the hiring.  “His experience, knowledge, and passion for Detroit will enhance our already powerful investigative unit.”

Elrick shared a 2009 Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick‘s series of scandals. Read more
