Tipsters tell TVSpy, the show, will be called Chicago Rush Hour and will be anchored by Jeff Herndon and Dawn Hasbrouck. We hear it will be a fast-paced news show with conversational elements. A debut date has not been set.
This comes on the heels of Scripps owned stations launching shows with a similar description based around the title the NOW.
the Now has launched or will soon launch in Denver (KMGH), Cincinnati (WCPO), Detroit (WXYZ), Kansas City (KSHB), Phoenix (KNXV), Tampa (WFTS), West Palm Beach (WPTV) and Cleveland (WEWS). Scripps says the NOW’s “upbeat, fast-paced style brings viewers nonstop weather coverage and the very latest on developing stories from the studio and in the streets.”
San Francisco CBS owned station KPIX recently launched a similar show on its CW affiliate KBCW. That show is aimed at a younger audience and features traditional news and reports on what’s trending in social media.
There’s no word if FOX is planning on rolling the new format on its other owned stations.
