Ashley Glass Moves to Weekend Co-Anchor at WFTS

Ashley Glass has been promoted to weekend morning co-anchor at Tampa ABC-affiliate WFTS.

Glass, a Florida native, joined WFTS in 2010 as a weekday morning reporter and fill-in anchor. She has previously worked at WCJB in Gainsville, WICS in Springfield, IL and WPEC in West Palm Beach.

Glass will anchor alongside John Thomas and Bill Logan on Saturday and Sunday mornings. She replaces Ellen McNamara, who left WFTS to join KSTP earlier this year.

Ellen McNamara Set to Join KSTP as Anchor-Reporter

WFTS weekend morning anchor Ellen McNamara has left the Tampa ABC-affiliate for a Monday-Friday anchor-reporter job at KSTP in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

McNamara began her broadcasting career with CBS-affiliate KLBK in Lubbock, TX.  After a stint with KXAN in Austin, she joined WFTS in April 2009.

McNamara is the daughter of longtime CBS News correspondent Bob McNamara and her family has strong ties to the Twin Cities. Her parents met in Minnesota and her dad worked at local CBS-affiliate WCCO before joining CBS News.

“Although I’ve never lived there, my family has strong ties to the area,” McNamara said, mentioning that her sister currently lives in Minnesota. “I’m very excited.” Read more

Ellen McNamara Leaving Tampa for Minneapolis

Ellen McNamara is leaving Tampa ABC-affiliate WFTS and heading to Minneapolis.

“Some of you already know, but I just landed a job in Minneapolis/St. Paul,” she wrote on Facebook. “I will be working M-F, anchoring an early evening newscast, and reporting during the day.”

McNamara, who joined WFTS in 2009, is a weekend morning anchor and weekday reporter for the station. Her last day on the air will be March 31. [h/t NewsBlues]
