Rentrak Signs KLAS as its 200th TV Station

The audience tracking and measuring service, Rentrak, announced it has signed a multi-year contract with Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS.  KLAS joins cross-town NBC affiliate KSNV as the second station in the market to subscribe to the StationView Essentials service offered by Rentrak.

“Rentrak provides a bigger picture of our viewers and their buying habits,” said Emily Neilson, President and General Manager of KLAS. “With this information, we can help our clients maximize their marketing dollars with more precise targeting.”

According to Broadcasting & Cable, most TV stations who subscribe to Rentrak continue to receive Nielsen ratings.

“As the 200th station to subscribe to Rentrak, the signing of KLAS marks a major achievement for the Rentrak’s local currency adoption,” said Cathy Hetzel, corporate president and president of advanced media and information at Rentrak. “We’re pleased to welcome KLAS into the growing family of clients.”

A man who sold bogus advertisements to Las Vegas stations KLAS and KVVU may be setting his sights on stations in the Pacific Northwest, according to Broadcasting & Cable.

He said the advertising spots in question were with Netflix; in fact, the ads that actually ran were for a “dubious memorabilia outfit” called everymemorabilia.com, according to B&C. The man disappeared without paying for the spots.

“The person knows enough about the industry to dupe clients into fraudulent buys,” KLAS general manager Emily Neilson told B&C. “We want others to watch out so they don’t get into the same situation.” The ads ran on KLAS for a week. Read more
