‘Good Day Philadelphia’ Anchors Were Off to See The Wizard This Morning

Calling their portrayal, “very accurate” the actress playing Dorothy in the new stage production of the “Wizard of Oz” visited the set of Good Day Philadelphia.

Danielle Wade was talking about the WTXF anchors dressing up like The Cowardly Lion (Mike Jerrick), The Tin Man (Quentin Harris) and Dorothy (Jennaphr Frederick) and dancing and singing, which is code for hopping around and half shouting in unison.

A special treat? Besides hearing Wade’s rendition of “Over the Rainbow,” watch as Harris’ Tin Man grips his pants as though he’s fearful they may drop at any second.

From Huh? to Hilarious: A Roundup of How Morning Teams Celebrated Halloween

Countless anchors across the country got into the spirit of Halloween by dressing up in kooky costumes and camping it up. The winners in the broadcasting version of the Halloween Parade continues to be the viewers who witnessed everything from awkward concepts to small moments that were genuinely funny.

The unofficial TVSpy award for the cattiest and most likely to be viewed by the Human Resources department went to Oklahoma City CBS affiliate KWTV. (video above) Anchor Bobbie Miller dressed like Tammy Payne, while Payne dressed like Miller in what came off as a thinly veiled excuse for them to take potshots at each other.

While the two were busy insulting one another, co-anchor Stan Miller scored the sexist remark of the day when he said “I want you to met Bobbie Miller.” He then patted “Miller’s” baby bump and said “Bucking for another 12 weeks off!”

Fake Bobbie Miller summed up the segment after taking a few shots across her bow by telling fake Tammy Payne, “We’re not going to be friends when this show’s over, are we?” Read more

VIDEO: Jennaphr Frederick Rappels Down 31 Stories on ‘Good Day Philadelphia’

Fear of heights did not stop WTXF reporter Jennaphr Frederick from rappelling 31 stories down a building on “Good Day Philadelphia” Friday (video above).

“I think people should know that I’m freaking out,” Frederick, who rappelled down the building for Outward Bound Philadelphia, said just before she did it. “Yes, I am afraid of heights. I have refused to look up.”

Spoiler alert: Frederick made it to the ground unscathed.

Mark Wahlberg Does Weather and Traffic Update on WTXF

Mark Wahlberg and Allen Hughes, the star and director of the new movie, “Broken City,” gave WTXF viewers more than just the typical interview while on “Good Day Philadelphia.”  You can watch the video after the jump.

The two stuck around long enough to deliver a chaotic 7 day forecast with Wahlberg directing the action while Hughes stumbled around the map. “Come on Allen. Get with it,” said Wahlberg who showed seconds of brilliance with the help of regular meteorologist Sue Serio.

Wahlberg then extended the bit into the traffic report, with Kacie McDonnell moving him where he needed to be before he tossed to reporter Jennaphr Frederick in the field by saying, “And Jen, [we] toss it back to you and don’t act like you’re working out,” he said referencing an earlier segment where Frederick was rolling out on a piece of equipment. “If you’re going to work out, do it.”
