KYW Launches Regularly Scheduled News Brief on Website

Philadelphia CBS owned station KYW is offering a short news brief available on the station’s website.

A station spokesperson told TVSpy, the “Digital Brief” is “for viewers who may have missed the evening news but are  looking for a quick recap of the local headlines in the evening.”

The video is posted every night at around 7:30 p.m. and is anchored by Jessica Dean.

KCBS in Los Angeles has a similar news brief that posts four times a day.

KARK Adds Husband and Wife Anchor Duo

KARK, the Nexstar owned NBC affiliate for Little Rock, AR, has announced the addition of two anchors who are also married to each other.

Starting in September, Ashley Ketz will join Bob Clausen on the 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. newscast. Ketz replaces Jessica Dean who was recently named anchor at KYW in Philadelphia. Also joining the station in September is Ketz’s husband, Aaron Nolan, who returns to KARK as co-anchor of “Arkansas Today,” the station’s noon newscast. He will anchor alongside Mallory Hardin.

“We couldn’t be more excited about welcoming Ashley home to Arkansas,” said KARK news director Austin Kellerman.  “Ashley has done a standout job since joining Nexstar Broadcasting’s station in Springfield.  It’s a natural transition for her to return home and help lead our team in Little Rock.” Read more

KYW Adds Jessica Dean as Anchor

KYW, the CBS owned station for Philadelphia, has announced the addition of Jessica Dean as weekday evening anchor.

She will join Chris May on the station’s 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. news as well as the 10:00 pm. news on KYW’s sister station, CW affiliate WPSG. Dean replaces Susan Barnett, who left KYW in April after the station said she chose not to sign a new deal.

“We are excited to welcome Jessica to our news team,” KYW vice president and news director Susan Schiller said in a statement. “Her personal connection with both her viewers and her stories is a perfect fit for the legacy of Eyewitness News and the stations’ commitment to the community.  I know she, along with Chris, will lead our exceptional team of journalists to a new level of excellence.”

Dean comes to KYW from KARK in Little Rock, AR, where she was the evening news anchor. She has also worked at Little Rock’s KATV and at KNWA-KFTA in Fort Smith, AR.

KARK Juggles Anchors For Evening Newscasts

KARK, the NBC-affiliate in Little Rock, is making some changes to the evening talent lineup.

Starting Monday, weekend anchor Jessica Dean (pictured) will co-anchor the station’s 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside current anchor Bob Clausen. She will replace Melissa Simas, who will contribute to those two newscasts as a reporter, while also continuing to anchor the 5 p.m. news.

“Melissa is an exceptional anchor/reporter and has made it clear that her passion is reporting stories and digging into important issues that affect Arkansas,” KARK news director Rob Heverling said in a statement. “We are pleased Melissa will have a much greater influence on how we shape our coverage of the news of the day.”

Dean, Simas and Clausen will be joined by Keith Monahan, who is the station’s new chief meteorologist. KARK reporter Lauren Trager will take over weekend anchoring duties from Dean.
