WRTV Adds Two to ‘Good Morning Indiana’

WRTV, the Indianapolis ABC affiliate, has announced the addition of a multimedia journalist and a traffic reporter to “Good Morning Indiana.”

Katie Heinz (pictured right) joins the station as a multimedia journalist for both “Good Morning Indiana Weekend” and the weekday morning show. Lauren Casey (pictured left) joins WRTV weekday morning anchors Beth Vaughn, Marc Mullins and meteorologists Todd Klaassen and Ashley Brown as traffic reporter on Monday September 16.

“Knowing what is happening right now is a priority for our morning viewers,” says Cope-Walton. “The addition of Lauren and Katie expands our morning coverage. We are pleased they chose to join our team.”

Heinz last worked at WICS in Springfield, IL, while Casey comes from Franklin College.

WICS Reporter Katie Heinz: Viewer Support Has ‘Given Me Strength’ After Car Accident

WICS reporter Katie Heinz recently underwent back surgery as she continues to recover from injuries sustained during a car accident last year.

Heinz said in a statement that she has been “undergoing extensive physical therapy and rehabilitation.”

“Your thoughts, prayers and many acts of kindness have meant so much and have given me the strength to tackle that extra step during therapy,” Heinz said. “Though it may take awhile, I look forward to the day I can return to the Springfield community and my WICS family.”

Heinz was driving a station vehicle in December when she was rear-ended in Springfield, IL. The impact propelled her car into the oncoming lane of traffic, where it was struck again.

WICS Reporter Katie Heinz Injured In Illinois Crash

Katie Heinz, a reporter at WICS, is in serious condition after a three-vehicle crash last night in Springfield, IL.

Heinz was driving a vehicle belonging to Springfield ABC-affiliate WICS, according to the State Journal-Register. She was rear-ended by a car behind her, and the impact propelled her into the opposing lane of traffic, where her vehicle was struck again.

Heinz joined WICS in 2008. She was one of two people taken to the hospital in the incident; the other has been treated and released.
