Leah Mazzarelli Signing Off From KRBC

Leah Mazzarelli is leaving KRBC, the NBC affiliate in Abilene, Texas. According to the Abilene Reporter News, she will become the media relations and communications manager for the city of Abilene on July 1.

Mazzarelli, who anchors and produces KRBC’s morning and 11:30 a.m. newscasts, joined the station in June 2012. Before that, she was a producer at sister station KTAB. In a Facebook post, Mazzarelli said KRBC evening anchor Nora Hartfeil will be taking over for her on the morning and midday newscasts.

“I won’t be going far. I’m sure you will still see me around Abilene,” Mazzarelli wrote. “Thank you for your viewership & support!”

Nicole DiDonato, Morgan Bond Join WXMI

Nicole DiDonato and Morgan Bond (pictured) have been hired at WXMI, the Fox-affiliate in Grand Rapids.

DiDonato will be a multimedia journalist on the station’s morning newscast. Until 2010, she was a weekend anchor and reporter at WFIE, the NBC-affiliate in Evansville.  A Michigan native, DiDanato begin her career at WXYZ in Detroit, where she was a writer, associate producer and production assistant.

Bond, also a Michigan native, will be a multimedia journalist for the station’s evening newscasts beginning on March 14. She joins WXMI from KRBC in Abilene.

KARK Names Austin Kellerman News Director

Austin Kellerman has been named news director at KARK, the Little Rock NBC-affiliate announced this week.

Kellerman comes to KARK after serving as news director at KTAB-KRBC in Abilene, TX.  Before Abilene, Kellerman worked as the morning show executive producer at CBS O&O KTVT in Dallas and, before that, as an executive producer at KTAL in Shreveport.

The move represents a promotion within Nexstar Broadcasting.  KARK and KTAB-KRBC, as well as KTAL, are owned by Nexstar.

“Austin has done a tremendous job in the company and has proven himself as both a leader and an innovator,” KARK vice president and general manager Mike Vaughn said in a statement.  “Austin’s enthusiasm and passion are a great fit for the KARK team.” Read more
