Parker, who has been with KTLA since 2005, began dating Villaraigosa in 2009, two years after the mayor was involved in an extramarital affair with a reporter for KVEA, the Los Angeles Telemundo station (he since divorced his wife).

A former Miss USA, Parker was working as an anchor and general assignment reporter for KTLA, often covering local politics, when she began dating Villaraigosa.

Jose Cancela Rejoins Telemundo as GM of KVEA

Jose Cancela has been named general manager of KVEA, the Telemundo station in Los Angeles. The move marks a return to Telemundo for Cancela, who was president and chief operating officer of their station group from 1992 to 1998.

“We are excited to welcome Jose back to Telemundo,” current station group president Ronald Gordon said in a statement. “His leadership skills, extensive broadcasting and operational experience, as well as his deep knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Hispanic audience will be a tremendous asset to KVEA.”

Cancela has vast experience across Spanish language stations. His career began at Univision in 1984 as an account executive at Miami’s WLTV before taking on several other  management positions across Univision stations. He joins KVEA from Hispanic USA Inc., a market resource firm in Miami that he founded in 2004. In 2003, Cancela was a candidate for mayor of Miami-Dade County; his campaign ended in 2004.
