Terri Cope-Walton Named ND at WRTV

Cope-Walton has worked at WRTV since 1998, most recently as assistant news director. She stepped into the role of interim news director in November 2012 after Kevin Finch parted ways with the station.

“After a nationwide search, I found the most qualified, natural leader for RTV6 News right here inside our station,” WRTV VP-GM Larry Blackerby said in a statement. “In just the past few weeks, Terri has done an outstanding job leading our team of journalists … Terri’s news judgment, passion and commitment to local coverage is outstanding.”

WRTV has announced Marc Mullins and Beth Vaughn will be the morning news team for “Good Morning Indiana.”

“Energy and urgency are what our viewers want in a morning newscast,” said Terri Cope-Walton, WRTV assistant news director. “Beth Vaughn delivers both.”

Vaughn comes to the Indianapolis ABC affiliate from KHSB in Kansas City where she was an anchor and reporter.  Vaughn’s co-anchor, Marc Mullins, comes to WRTV from KMTR in Eugene, OR, where he was also an anchor and reporter.

“We are very pleased Marc is joining our “Good Morning Indiana” team,” said vice president and general manager Larry Blackerby. “His experience as a morning anchor combined with his natural enthusiasm and passion for reporting will be a perfect fit for our morning viewers.”

WRTV Taps Indianapolis Veteran Kevin Finch to Lead News Department

Indianapolis’s WRTV has chosen Kevin Finch as its new news director. Previously, Finch held the ND post at rival station WISH, where he worked for six years.

“Kevin’s knowledge of the Indianapolis market, his journalistic skills, and his leadership abilities make him the perfect choice to lead the RTV 6 news department back to a position of strength,” said Larry Blackerby, WRTV’s (channel 6) vice president and general manager.

Before joining WISH, where he worked as assistant news director before being to promoted to ND in 2007, Finch spent 13 years at NBC-affiliate WTHR. Most recently, Finch has been working for Calamari Productions, a local production house that specializes in non-fiction cable shows.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity,” Finch said. “I look forward to working with Larry and his staff at this venerable station, as we move forward to bring central Indiana viewers the best possible coverage on TV and online.”
