KHOU Meteorologist Hiccups His Way Through Forecast

Here’s another video clip to add to our schadenfreude series.

David Paul, chief meteorologist for Houston CBS affiliate KHOU battled a bad case of hiccups all the way through a recent weathercast.

Paul successfully made it through his segment, but not without multiple stops and starts drawing out what sounded almost like jealousy from co-anchor Lisa Hernandez who told him, “Only you could pull off hiccups in severe weather.” To which he replied, “I made it through.”

Welcoming Lisa Hernandez, KHOU Debuts New Set

As KHOU introduced new evening anchor Lisa Hernandez this week, the Belo station also debuted a new set.

KHOU has been aggressively promoting the arrival of Hernandez–who is replacing Lucy Noland after seven years at KABC–with a series of TV spots and a module on its homepage inviting viewers to Like her on Facebook.  After rolling out the red carpet for Hernandez, it only seems fitting that KHOU would also build a new anchor desk.  The above video shows Hernandez anchoring from the shiny new set. KHOU’s Lisa Hernandez Looks To Bring Morning Energy to Primetime Newscasts

Lisa Hernandez, who debuted yesterday on KHOU, is bringing her experience as a morning anchor to the evening newscasts on the Houston CBS-affiliate.

“I enjoyed the energy of it, and I hope to bring that energy to a primetime newscast,” Hernandez told the Houston Chronicle. “It’s a different hour and a different vibe, but I’ll try to be myself and be a reporter in the big chair.”

Hernandez was formerly the weekend morning anchor at KABC in Los Angeles. She co-anchors the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts on KHOU with Greg Hurst.

“(KABC) is not one of those stations where there’s a lot of upward mobility,” she said. “When this opportunity opened up, I jumped on it and crossed my fingers, and here I am.”

KHOU Hires Lisa Hernandez Away From KABC

After losing Lucy Noland to Los Angeles’ KNBC this summer, KHOU has hired veteran SoCal anchor Lisa Hernandez as her replacement, according to mikemcguff.com.

A California native, Hernandez currently works as a weekend morning co-anchor and general assignment reporter for KABC.

“I am ridiculously lucky,” Hernandez told mikemcguff.com about her new job. “Not only am I joining an amazing news team, I’m moving to an amazing city!”

Before joining KABC in 2004, Hernandez worked as a producer at KESQ in Palm Springs and as a reporter for News 14, a 24-hour cable news channel in North Carolina.  She is expected to anchor KHOU’s 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts.

LA Stations Scramble to Cover Schwarzenegger Bombshell This Morning

This morning KTLA reporter Eric Spillman was stationed outside of a Brentwood coffee shop that Arnold Schwarzenegger frequents, hoping to run into the former governor as local news outlets scrambled to cover his surprise admission that he fathered a child ten years ago with a member of his household staff (video above).

Across town, KABC‘s Lisa Hernandez reported live from Woodland Hills, where Schwarzenegger recently had a school named after him. “It really comes out of left field for a lot of people we’ve spoken to this morning,” Hernandez said during KABC’s A.M. newscast. Video inside… Read more
