Cleveland Meteorologist Freaks Out About Miami Heat Championship During Forecast

WEWS meteorologist Mark Johnson couldn’t contain his frustration after local hero turned villain LeBron James won his first NBA championship Thursday night.

Johnson broke from his forecast during the ABC-affiliate’s late newscast following the game to rant about the outcome (and it was difficult for the weathercaster to avoid the topic considering that the teams were the Heat and the Thunder).

“Light rain downtown, no thunder. Son of a gun, we could have used some thunder,” Johnson said (video after the jump). Read more

VIDEO: KABB Reporter Changes Charles Barkley’s Mind About San Antonio Women

Former NBA star and current NBA commentator Charles Barkley has made a habit of dissing San Antonio as he covers the Spurs for TNT, going so far as to regularly call the city’s women fat.

Barkley was in the Alamo City this week as the Spurs competed in the Western Conference Finals, and he was confronted by an excited group of local reporters when he made a public appearance with the city’s mayor.

Among the collected journalists, was KABB reporter Christina Coleman, who Barkley put his arm around and declared, “I like the women” (video above–around 0:54 mark).

KNBC Mistakes Sacramento Kings for Los Angeles Kings, Team Calls Out Station on Twitter

Los Angeles currently has three professional sports teams playing in the postseason but, according to a recent KNBC graphic (above), the city only has two.

During KNBC’s 6 p.m. newscast on Monday, as anchor Chuck Henry introduced a story about the Lakers and Clippers competing in the NBA playoffs and the Los Angeles Kings playing in the NHL postseason, the station ran a graphic that included the logo of the Sacramento Kings, instead of the LA Kings. From the Vault: KSL Sports Anchor Jim Nantz Interviews 1985 Utah Jazz in Jacuzzi

Here’s a video of then-KSL sports anchor Jim Nantz interviewing members of the Utah Jazz, including future Hall of Famer John Stockton, about their 1985 playoff matchup with the Houston Rockets. Oh, and the entire interview is conducted from a hot tub.

The video was recently unearthed by current KSL sports anchor Jeremiah Jensen.  Nantz left the station in 1985 to join CBS.
