KDVR Announces Anchor Changes, Hires New Morning Team

Denver FOX affiliate KDVR has hired a new morning anchor team that includes former KCNC anchor Brooke Wagner. Wagner’s new co-anchor will be Kirk Yuhnke who joins KDVR from Phoenix ABC affiliate KNXV.

“We believe Brooke and Kirk, along with meteorologist Jennifer Broome and traffic anchor Ken Clark, will make a dynamic team,” KDVR news director Ed Kosowski told TVSpy. “They have the experience, passion and personality to make “Good Day Colorado” a unique morning newscast in this highly-competitive market.”

Both Wagner and Yuhnke, who go on-air two weeks from today on April 22, broke the news via social media.  Wagner chose twitter to announce, saying, “Friends, I’m thrilled and proud to announce I have a new TV home @KDVR ! I will start on #GoodDayColorado soon! Honored to join the team!” Read more

12 Dead, 50 Injured in Colorado Massacre

Local stations in Denver remain in breaking news coverage at this hour after a gunman opened fire at a midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, CO left at least 12 dead and 50 injured.

NBC-affiliate KUSA was the first station to go into continuing coverage, around 2:25 a.m. local time. Reporter Brandon Rittiman anchored from the scene of the shooting. Rittiman was joined by morning anchor Kyle Dyer at 2:45 a.m.

KMGH, the ABC-affiliate, ran a breaking news ticker during “World News Now” starting shortly after 2:40 a.m. “World News” reported on the news at 2:50 a.m. KMGH broke in to that program with its own coverage at 3:08 a.m. Mitch Jelniker anchored coverage. Read more

Mike Headrick Set to Join KSL From KDVR

Mike Headrick is joining KSL in Salt Lake City from KDVR in Denver.

Headrick will make the move from KDVR immediately after the May sweeps period concludes, he tells TVSpy. He will anchor the 5 p.m. newscast and be an investigative reporter for KSL. He takes over for Bruce Lindsay, who is set to retire this summer after 34 years with the station.

Headrick is the morning anchor at KDVR. He will be replaced by Nick Emmons.

Nick Emmons Joins KDVR as Morning Anchor

Nick Emmons is joining KDVR, the Fox-affiliate in Denver, as morning anchor.

Emmons joins the station from KION in Salinas, where he was also a morning anchor. He replaces Mike Headrick, who is leaving for Salt Lake City, according to the Denver Post. Headrick joined KDVR from KUTV in Salt Lake City in 2009.

The Denver Post also reports KDVR has hired sportscaster Kami Carmann from rival KMGH, the ABC-affiliate in Denver.

On the Move, 3/27/12

Jonathan Vigliotti joins the staff at WNBC, where he has been a freelance reporter since last fall.  Previously, Vigliotti worked as a MMJ at WPLG in Miami.

Peter Busch is set to become the new primary anchor at WBBH in Fort Myers, after working as a weekend anchor at KPHO in Phoenix. Busch will begin his new job in May.

Paul Milliken joins the WAGA morning team as a reporter. Before moving to Atlanta, Milliken was the morning meteorologist and traffic reporter at WRIC in Richmond.

Jeff Valin joins WTNH in Hartford-New Haven as a weekend morning anchor and reporter. A New England native, Valin has most recently worked as a freelance reporter with New England Cable News in Boston. Read more
