Oops: WTHR Uses KTTV Meteorologist Pablo Pereira’s Headshot in Story About New GM

Indianapolis NBC affiliate WTHR gave an on-air welcome to its new general manager, Larry Delia, during the 6 p.m. newscast on Friday night.

“Our family here at WTHR is welcoming a new general manager to channel 13. Larry Delia has been named president and GM of WTHR by our parent company, the Dispatch Broadcast Group,” anchor John Stehr said. “We want to welcome Larry to Channel 13.”

One problem: WTHR used the headshot of Pablo Pereira, a meteorologist at KTTV in Los Angeles, in the graphic (above).

WTHR ran the correct picture during the 11 p.m. newscast and the 8 a.m. newscast Saturday (below).

Pablo Pereira Named Evening Meteorologist at KTTV-KCOP

Pablo Pereira has been named meteorologist for the evening newscasts at KTTV-KCOP, Fox’s duopoly in Los Angeles. In his new role, he will appear on “Studio 11 L.A.,” “FOX 11 News at 10 PM,” “KCOP My13 News at 7PM” and “KCOP My13 News at 11PM.”

Pereira joined the stations on a per diem basis in 2011. He has previously worked at KABC and KNBC, both in Los Angeles.

“This is my dream job. Getting the opportunity to work alongside such a talented team is truly a great honor and thrill,” Pereira said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to provide accurate and informative weather forecasts to KTTV/KCOP viewers.”

KTTV Anchor Mistakes Basketball for Hockey

Time was a Southern California sports anchor could be forgiven for making a flub while reporting about professional men’s ice hockey. But since the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup in 2012, the bar has been set much higher.

And while some sports media outlets are skewering KTTV‘s Pablo Pereira for mistakenly telling viewers the Anaheim Ducks traded for Matthew Lombardi from the Phoenix Suns, TVSpy may break all the rules and err on the side of giving the guy a break.

After further review of the tape, let it be noted that Pereira also anchored the weather for the FOX owned station that night, then switched to the other side of the desk, donned a pair of glasses and lead off with the Clippers and Suns game.

For those who don’t follow hockey or basketball, the Suns are an NBA team while the Coyotes are the Phoenix NHL franchise. Lombardi played for the Coyotes.
