Pete Gallivan Returning to WGRZ in Buffalo

Pete Gallivan is returning to WGRZ after a four-month absence, the Buffalo NBC affiliate announced today.

Gallivan signed off from WGRZ in March to join Governor Andrew Cuomo‘s communications office. He will return to the station on July 15 as a news and sports reporter-anchor.

“Sports and broadcast journalism have always been a part of me,” Gallivan said in a statement. “I couldn’t be happier to return to 2 On Your Side, a place that I called home for 17 years. There is nothing more rewarding than to tell the stories in your hometown of your family, friends, and neighbors.”

Pete Gallivan Leaving WGRZ After 17 Years

After 17 years at WGRZ, Pete Gallivan is leaving the Buffalo NBC affiliate, the Buffalo News reports. The reporter and fill-in anchor has accepted a job in Governor Andrew Cuomo‘s communications department.

“I’m 47,” Gallivan told the News. “I wasn’t looking for an opportunity and they reached out to me. I thought if I was going to try something new, now was the time to do it.”

Gallivan informed the station of his departure on Tuesday. Because his new role is a potential conflict of interest, station management informed him he had to leave the station immediately.
