Meredith Announces New GMs in Las Vegas and Kansas City

Meredith Local Media Group has announced changes to the general manager position at two of its stations.

Darrin McDonald will move from vice president and general manager of Las Vegas Fox affiliate KVVU to vice president and general manager of the Kansas City duopoly KCTV-KSMO.  Taking McDonald’s place in Las Vegas will be Todd Brown, who was promoted from general sales manager at KVVU.  McDonald fills the vacancy left by the departure of Robert Totsch in October.

“Darrin has been a great leader at KVVU and will use his skills and expertise to build upon our presence in the Kansas City market,” said Paul Karpowicz, president of the Local Media Group.  “Todd is well poised to be successful as he steps into his new role at KVVU, and will be an asset to our group’s leadership team.” Read more

General Manager Robert Totsch Out at KCTV

Bottom Line Communications is reporting Robert Totsch, vice president and general manager of Kansas City CBS affiliate KCTV is no longer with the station.

Totsch may be best known for not renewing the contract of longtime meteorologist Katie Horner.  Bottom Line said his tenure at the station has not without some bumps,

Under Totsch’s direction, the station’s morning team was repeatedly shaken up starting with Chris Pisano and Dana Wright (now an afternoon radio host on KMBZ-980 AM). They were replaced by Kelly Jones and Greg Adaline, and then Adaline was let go after about a year and replaced by Matt Stewart. Earlier this year the station brought in an entirely new duo to handle the show.  It was Totsch’s decision to bring in Michael Coleman as the station’s sports director, and he disbanded the station’s award-winning Investigative team.

Totsch joined KCTV in 2009 after spending 21 years with St. Louis CBS affiliate KMOV.
