Cat Walks Through Univision Miami Weather Forecast

Eduardo Rodriguez, weathercaster for Miami Univision station WLTV, had a furry visitor during his 11 p.m. weather forecast on Friday.

According to Univision’s youtube page, the station’s parking lot is home to several cats and this one just happened to wander onto the set mid-forecast for what looked like a swim through the Gulf of Mexico before taking a sniff of The Bahamas.  The feline cameo was punctuated by laughter from the talent and crew off-camera while Rodriguez steadily continued on.

Michael Rodriguez Named VP-GM of WLTV in Miami

Michael Rodriguez has been named vice president and general manager of WLTV and WAMI, the Univision and TeleFutura affiliates in Miami.

“Michael’s expertise in Hispanic media is second to none, and we plan to tap into that experience as well as the total power of the Univision Network in order to continue to grow in the Miami market,” said Kevin Cuddihy, president of the Univision Television Group, in announcing the appointment.  “Michael began his career–most of which has been spent in Miami–at Univision Radio and we are very excited for his homecoming.”

Rodriguez has significant experience working in the Miami market.  He was vice president and general manager of  Telemundo station WSCV from 2002 to 2007.  Before that, he worked as a local sales manager at CBS-affiliate WFOR. Read more

WTVJ Hires Telemundo Veteran as VP of News

WTVJ has named Migdalia Figueroa vice president of news.

Figueroa comes to NBC’s Miami station from Telemundo, where she served as senior vice president of local content for the Telemundo Station Group, overseeing news and local content for all of the the company’s 14 owned stations.

“I am delighted to welcome Migdalia to the NBC 6 leadership team,” WTVJ president and general manager Manuel Martinez said, announcing the move. “She brings a passion for news, a wealth of knowledge, and a strong understanding of the South Florida market. This combination makes her the natural choice to lead the NBC 6 news team.” Read more
