WTVC Launches Weekend Morning Newscast

lauren st germainChattanooga ABC affiliate WTVC has named an anchor team for its weekend morning newscast, which will launch next month: anchor Lauren St. Germain (pictured), meteorologist Jason Disharoon and reporter Betsy Goldin.

“We waited to expand Good Morning Chattanooga on Saturday and Sunday until we could do it right – right in terms of staffing, right in terms of resources,” general manager Mike Costa said in a statement. “To do that, it means expanding our news staff – to have a dedicated team focused on producing a weekend morning newscast that will be fresh and useful. That’s what we’ve done: a great new team, for a great new show.”

St. Germain joins WTVC from WTVY in Dothan, Ala., where she anchored the 9 p.m. newscast. Goldin most recently worked at WJHG in Panama City, Fla., where she was a producer and reporter on the noon newscast. Disharoon, currently WTVC’s weekend meteorologist, has worked at the station since 2011,

WTVY News Director Jeff Raker Dies Suddenly

WTVY news director Jeff Raker collapsed and died while at work Friday morning, according to the Dothan Eagle. He was 56.

Raker joined the Dothan, Ala. CBS affiliate in April 2012 as news director. He had previously worked at WTVY as news director from 1997-99.

“I know he was proud of the work being done here and was excited to be a part of the growth of this station. We will miss him and we will do our best to continue to make him proud,” general manager Mike Smith said in a statement.

“In my 20 years of knowing Jeff, many of them working with him, I found him to be the consummate professional,” anchor Reginald Jones told the Dothan Eagle.

Raker is a former news director at KMEG-KPTH in Sioux City, Iowa, KRCG in Jefferson City, Mo., and WYTV in Youngstown, Ohio.

Gina Pitisci Moves to Evenings at WCTV-WTLH

Gina Pitisci has been promoted to weekday evening anchor at WCTV and WTLH, the CBS and Fox affiliates for Tallahassee.

In her new role, she will anchor the 10 p.m. newscast on WTLH and the 11 p.m. newscast on WCTV. Pitisci joined the stations January 2012 as the weekday morning anchor of WCTV’s “Daybreak” and co-anchor of the “Good Morning Show.” She also co-anchored the WTLH 7 a.m. newscast.

Before joining WCTV, Pitisci was the weekday morning and noon anchor at WTVY in Dothan, Ala.

Reporter Joshua Repp Joins WPEC From WBBH

Reporter Joshua Repp is leaving WBBH in Fort Myers for WPEC in West Palm Beach, according to the News-Press.

Repp’s departure comes after just eight months with the station. He joined WBBH in June from WTVY, the CBS-affiliate in Dothan, AL. Repp grew up near West Palm Beach.

“It’s been short and sweet Fort Myers!” Repp wrote on Facebook. “Say hello to West Palm’s newest reporter! I’m going home!”
