WWTV-WFQX Morning Anchor Scott Michael Trager Dies at 46

Scott Michael Trager, the morning anchor at WWTV-WFQX in Traverse City, Mich., died unexpectedly Wednesday morning. He was 46.

The station announced the news on its website and on the 5 p.m. newscast Wednesday, describing Trager as “an accomplished journalist, caring family-man, and a friend to many.” Trager joined WWTV in 1990 and spent several years as sports director before transitioning to the station’s news desk.

“For over 20 years Scott Michael Trager has been part of the 9&10 News family. From his dynamic sports reporting to his professional yet funny personality he showed at the anchor desk, his impact will never be forgotten,” WWTV station owner Mario Iacobelli said in a statement.

General manager Bill Kring said Trager will “be deeply missed.”

“This is a sad day for everyone who has worked with Scott Michael Trager and for our viewers who have woken up with him each morning,” Kring said.

Trager, who anchored alongside Michelle Dunaway, was last on the air yesterday morning.
