U.S. News Hires Web / Content Developer

From the release:

U.S.News & World Report today announces the hire of Paulo Ordoveza as a Web developer for the U.S. News website. He began April 30 and reports to Michael Piccorossi, director of operations.

Ordoveza, who has more than a decade of Web production and development experience, will create CSS/HTML page templates for the newly redesigned site, and will provide technical assistance on data projects and third-party partnerships.

“As USNews.com becomes an increasingly vital complement to our print magazine, Paulo’s strong background in creative Web development will further strengthen our team,” Piccorossi said. “With Paulo fully integrated into our Web and editorial processes, we’ll be even better positioned to provide daily news analysis, and innovative consumer data projects on USNews.com.”

Since January 2006, Ordoveza worked as a freelance Web developer, and worked for the last four years as part of a team at SmokeScreen.org creating smoke-free activism campaign websites, such as SmokeFree.net and SmokeFreeDC.org.

Prior to his work at SmokeScreen.org, Ordoveza worked at New Media Archives and Productions, Inc. in the Philippines as a video archivist from 2000 to 2002, creating interactive video and print archives for the local advertising and production industry. Ordoveza spent the summer of 2000 at IMDG/MyPhillipines.com as a Web executive, managing a team of designers and developers and implementing site designs. From June 1998 through May 2000 he worked at OmniPost as a digital video editor.

He received a bachelor’s in communication in 1998 from Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines, and a master’s in digital art in 2003 from Maryland Institute College of Art.
