Kerry Washington Graces Cover of Vanity Fair

Kerry Washington is Vanity Fair’s August cover girl. David Kamp, a contributing editor to the magazine, wrote the accompanying article. In the piece, the 36-year-old Bronx native opens up about seeing Nelson Mandela at Yankees Stadium when she was only 13, why she sees Oliva Pope — her character on Scandal — as both “maternal” and “executive,” and much more.

We’re not quite sure what Washington is doing with her hands in this photo, but somehow it works. Look for your FishbowlNY editors to adopt this pose at a pool near you.

The August issue of Vanity Fair hits newsstands July 9.
