BBC Two to Adapt Long Poem about Publishing Love & Lunch

bbc2.pngActors Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson will star in a BBC Two adaptation of Christopher Reid‘s long poem, The Song Of Lunch. What other poems would you like to see adapted into film?

The film will center around a book editor (played by Rickman) who meets up with his former publishing flame (played by Thompson) fifteen years after a break-up. The film centers around an increasingly rare phenomenon in this recession: the publishing lunch.

The release explained the publishing-themed plot: “The woman is now living a glamorous life in Paris, married to a world-renowned writer, whilst the unnamed editor has failed in his writing career, detests his mundane publishing job and regrets the end of their love affair. When he arrives at Zanzotti’s he finds it under new management and much changed, and this seems to fuel his resentment about growing older and being left behind.”
