WUSA’s Dave Owens Goes On Air (Almost) Shirtless After Wizards Loss

WUSA sports reporter Dave Owens appeared near-shirtless on the 11 p.m. newcast Friday night after the Washington Wizards lost in overtime against the Brooklyn Nets (video above).

The Wizards were up by seven points with a minute and a half to play when Owens tweeted: “If the #wizards blow this I’ll do the sportscast without a shirt on!” The Wizards went on to lose 113-115 to the Nets in overtime, and Owens wore a sleeveless orange shirt for his the sportscast.

At the end of the sports headlines, anchor Anita Brikman pointed out Owens had said he would appear without a shirt. “This is a family show,” Owens responded. [h/t The Washington Post]

Reporter Debra Alfarone Joins WUSA From WPIX

Debra Alfarone is joining WUSA, the CBS affiliate in Washington, DC.

Alfarone joins the station from WPIX, the CW affiliate in New York City, where she has been a general assignment reporter since 2010. At WUSA, she will be the lead reporter for the station’s 11 p.m. newscast, which is anchored by Anita Brikman and Derek McGinty.

Before joining WPIX, Alfarone spent two years at WVIT, the NBC O&O in Hartford, as a reporter for the morning newscast. She has also worked at News 12 Connecticut as a reporter and fill-in anchor. Alfarone also serves as a Mediabistro instructor.
