WZTV Offers $10,000 Reward in Reporter Shooting

WZTV, Nashville’s Fox affiliate, is offering $10,000 to anyone who can provide information about the robbery and shooting of reporter Erika Lathon.

The Nashville Police Department has posted the reward notice to its website, giving details about what happened during the robbery/shooting,

Lathon was approached by the gunman at 11:45 p.m.  He demanded cash.  She complied.  The robber, who was dressed in all black and wore a mask, fired one time into Lathon’s car and fled on foot.  She drove herself to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the arm.

Lathon, who described the gunshot as feeling like she’d been hit in the arm with a two by four, told WZTV, “I’m just glad to be here to tell the story and, you know, that I survived this, and that my family didn’t have to get another phone call.” Read more

WZTV Reporter Erika Lathon Shot After ATM Robbery

Veteran WZTV reporter Erika Lathon was shot overnight after being robbed at an ATM in Nashville.

Lathon was shot in the left arm after being robbed at a Bank of America drive-through ATM at 17th Ave. N. and Church street, according to the station. The incident occurred around midnight. Lathon drove herself a short distance to Baptist Hospital, where she was treated and released.

Lathon complied with the robber’s request for money while in her car, but the male suspect shot her anyway before fleeing the scene. Police are reviewing surveillance video from the bank, according to the Fox affiliate.

The station reported on the incident on Friday’s morning newscasts, with Meagan O’Halloran reporting from the ATM. Watch the report here (WZTV’s video player does not allow embedding).
