WATCH: Arsenio Drops in on WJW Live Shot

Doug Kolk, entertainment reporter for Tribune’s Los Angeles CW affiliate KTLA, was doing live hits promoting the second coming of the “Arsenio Hall Show” outside the show’s studios when Arsenio himself appeared from a side entrance.

Arsenio seemed very excited that he had arrived just as Kolk was on live with Cleveland FOX affiliate WJW since he’s from Cleveland.

“Let me tell you something,” Hall said to Tracy McCool and Bill Martin. “A lot of people leave Cleveland and they don’t have a sense of pride. I took the bark with me ya’ll.” said Hall referring to his naming of a section of his show’s audience the “Dog Pound” as a salute to the hometown Cleveland Browns. “I’m not going to South Beach. I love ya’ll and I’m never letting anybody forget that I’m from Cleveland.” Read more

Tracy McCool Moving to Evenings at WJW

Tracy McCool, who has anchored the WJW morning newscast for eight years, has been named the new evening anchor at the Cleveland Fox-affiliate.

McCool replaces Stacey Bell, who left WJW last month to move to New Jersey with her husband. She will anchor the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts.

McCool is an Ohio native who began her career at WJW as an intern and worked her way up to a producer at the station. She made the transition to on-air work at WICU in Erie and WSYX-WTTE in Columbus, returning to WJW in 2000.

“We’re all very proud and happy for Tracy,” WJW president and general manager Greg Easterly said in a statement. “Hers is truly a ‘Cleveland’s own’ success story that all of northeast Ohio can appreciate.”

Stacey Bell Leaving Cleveland’s WJW After 13 Years

After 13 years at WJW, anchor Stacey Bell is leaving the Cleveland Fox-affiliate.

Bell is moving to New Jersey to be with her husband, the running back coach for the New York Jets. Her last broadcast will be tonight.

After joining WJW in 1998 as a reporter for the morning newscast, Bell was named co-anchor of the 5 p.m. newscast in 2000. She moved to the 10 p.m. newscast, which she anchors with Bill Martin, in 2005.

A replacement has not yet been selected for the evening newscast, but the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports Tracy McCool, the WJW morning anchor, is a likely candidate.

WJW Anchors Can’t Make It Through Fart Story

“To put that story in there was wrong. That was wrong, man,” said WJW‘s Wayne Dawson, trying to hold back laughter after his morning co-anchor Tracy McCool struggled to make it through a story about a man facing assault charges for passing gas in front of a police officer (video above).
