Hubbard, 38, joined Twitter this week, and announced the news yesterday from his Twitter profile.

Twitter is currently looking for additional sources of revenue in the e-commerce space, which is dominated by Amazon and eBay. Hubbard, however, says he will be looking to form deals with merchants, rather than competing directly with those firms.
“We’re going to go to people who have stuff to sell and help them use Twitter to sell it more effectively,” said Hubbard. “One of the hallmarks of Twitter’s entire approach has been partnering. We’re going to take the same approach with owners of physical and digital goods.”
In his role as commerce chief Hubbard will report to Adam Bain, Twitter’s head of global revenue.
