He’s amassed nearly 1,800,000 followers, has tweeted more than 2,700 times and he’s one of the funniest people on Twitter. Comedian Steve Martin has embraced Twitter more than many of his celebrity pals – and he’s taking his tweeting one step further, to an “offline” format: A book.
As with many announcements these days, Martin took to Twitter to first tell the world about his upcoming book.
He tweeted last week:
“Due to absolutely no demand, soon I’m publishing a book of my tweets. Many of your replies included! All my profits to charity.”
And, for anyone wondering why they’d want to buy his book rather than sift through his (admittedly hilarious) Twitter history, Martin has an answer: “Because I’ll edit out all the garbage.”
Reading a book of even the most hilarious tweets might not be for everyone, but if anyone has a chance of making it a success, it’s Martin. This decades-long comedian has a fine-tuned sense of comedic timing that translates well to Twitter – he even tweeted from the jury box while on jury duty last year!
But despite how funny he is, Martin has only good words for his fans, too. When asked whether his tweets or the replies he received were funnier, he responded that it was a toss up.
The Herald Sun reports that Martin’s book will be called The Ten, Make that Nine, Habits of Very Organized People. Make that Ten. He has yet to set a release date, but you can bet there will be fanfare a plenty as it draws nearer.
