Ask Piranhamous Anything

Today we have another installment of: “Ask Piranhamous Anything.” And we do mean anything. Send your queries to FishbowlDC@mediabistro.com. This isn’t an advice column — Piranhamous doesn’t know what the hell you should do with your life any more than you do — and worse, he doesn’t care. Try to keep your questions short — we want to keep this fun, simple and insightful.

1. Now that the issue is (hopefully) starting to subside, what’s your take on the whole Bob Woodward flap? Was he threatened by the White House or no?

He wasn’t threatened, moreover he never said he was. What Woodward did was tell the truth, something the White House didn’t want told, and sit back and watch alleged journalists, mostly boybanders, snap to attention to defend the President from that truth. The story quickly became “Was Woodward threatened” rather than “Did Barack Obama lie?” which made the White House happy because the answer to the second one is “yes.” Journalism, in the hands of these kids, has become activism. As Dennis Miller put it, they’ve gone from “Fight the power” to “Invite the power.” It’s pretty sad to watch.

2. What about Chris Christie not being invited to CPAC? Smart move or dumb move on CPAC’s part?

I’m going to answer this one with the third question, so see the answer after the jump. 3.  Should GOProud be allowed at CPAC?

CPAC has become a stereotype factory. Yes, it’s a conservative organization and they can invite anyone they want, but to skip the most popular governor in the country is dumb. Invite him and let the audience boo him, if that’s what they feel. But don’t snub him because that becomes the story. Same goes for GOProud. Who cares what people do with their genitals? That they are on your side in the voting booth is what matters, especially when you just had your ass handed to you in a national election. I think what the cranky old people who run CPAC are most afraid of is finding out that they Chris Christie wouldn’t get booed, or at least would on very little, and people wouldn’t go running for the doors at the sight of a gay person. That would not only shake many board members of CPAC’s world view, but their hold on power, too.
