Ebony Nabs Style Director from Essence

Marielle Bobo has been named Ebony magazine’s new Style Director. Bobo most recently worked as Senior Fashion Editor for Essence, and previously held positions at Vanity FairAllure, WWD, and OK!.

“As Ebony’s emphasis on fashion and beauty continues to grow, we are thrilled to welcome our new Style Director,” said Amy DuBois Barnett, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine. ”Bobo’s years of expertise and her breadth of connections will surely help us as we take Ebony to the next level.”

Essence Magazine Announces New Fashion Hires

Today, Essence announced several additions to its fashion editorial team: Marielle Bobo is now the senior fashion editor and Zandile Blay takes the title of Essence.com’s fashion editor. In addition, Toccara, of “America’s Next Top Model” fame, will Essence as a contributing style editor.

Bobo has previously lent her fashion and style expertise to titles such as Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, WWD, Allure, and Vanity Fair, among others. She often makes appearances as a style expert on televisions shows like “Good Morning America” and “The Today Show,” and most recently served as the senior fashion editor for Ok! magazine.

Blay is a style columnist for The Huffington Post and was formerly Paper magazine’s women’s market editor. She has also worked for Seventeen, as an editor, as well as New York mag, InStyle and Complex.

Toccara began contributing to Essence in September, and will provide style tips and fashion advice both in print and online, via video blog, at Essence.com
