The New York Times Launches Fashion iPad App

The New York Times is starting to experiment with niche iPad apps with the launch of The Collection, an app that will feature the paper’s fashion and style content. WWD reports that it will pull coverage from the Styles section, On the Runway and The Moment blogs, T Magazine and The International Herald Tribune.

A quick glance at the app reveals videos, photos and articles about clothes no one can afford, but still, The Collection is a good move by the Times.

We always support stand alone apps because they offer something new and interesting that readers can’t get from simply browsing a website. It’s also smart that the app is free until the end of the year.

Fiona Spruill, the Times’ Emerging Platform Editor, said that there are also plans to launch an app dedicated to the upcoming election, so stay tuned for that.
