Professional Experience

A freelance writer who has lived and worked in NYC, Chicago, Paris, and London, I have written about subjects varying from film in the silent era to post-Enron corporate governance. I received an MFA from Columbia University's School of the Arts, where I also worked as Arts Editor for "Inside New York". I am a former Editorial Associate for "Harvard Review". I currently am a writer for BrainPOP.com, working on editing movies and creating robust scripts, FYIs, and game content. I also transcode and compress movies for iPod and iPad compatibility, function as an editor for BrainPOP's CC text, and for the learning content of their BrainPOP Jr. movies. As the director of NYC's only year-round short film series, I worked with writers and filmmakers, both nationally and internationally. My editorial background helps me with proofreading, brainstorming, managing staff, and reliability with deadlines. I am a professional, reliable writer who wants to present your publication in the best light poss

Showcase

General

A cover story on innovations in alternative staging. Includes the "Cabaret"' revival in Studio 54, The Daryl Roth Theater's presentation of "De La Guarda", and Gorilla Rep's annual "Midsummer Night's Dream" in Washington Square Park.
Is Acid Back? Scientists at Harvard and U Cal think so--but the history of science and acid is pretty tarnished. . .
Three chapters written for "Pandora," a novel currently for sale in bookstores and on-line. "WEbook is proud to present its debut community-sourced novel, Pandora, an edge-of-your seat thriller about the forces of good and evil, love and hate, yoga and jambalaya."
Irving Chais recollects going into 'the doll doctor' business 60 years ago when his father was ill, on being a G.I. in WWII London, and on modern non-fiction literature. A real, funny, and inspiring NYC character!
Coverage of a conference that analyzed the effects of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and addressed questions that have ricocheted throughout the financial and legal professions since the Enron Scandal.
Film review from my blog, "Portrait of a Ladette," which is now off-line being edited for future publication. The reviews, one of which is sampled here, will not be part of the book-- but the quotidian view of a 21st Century Isabel Archer in London most definitely will be.
Arts Editor for a popular NYC guidebook distributed through Barnes & Noble. I designed the content of the Arts section, wrote section introductions, and managed a staff of writers. I also interviewed actors, writers, and musicians on their work and on how New York City has influenced them as artists.
A personal essay on an unwelcome medical diagnosis when I was 21--and how I tried to ignore it.
An essay on some aspects of my life in London, and when a mugger criticized my use of language.
Reviews of novels by Rikki Ducornet and Cristina Garcia written for "Harvard Review", where I was a Contributing Associate and working with writers like Sven Birkerts, David Foster Wallace, and Seamus Heaney.
Recap of the OWN Network's Reality Show, "Lindsay"
Recap of the OWN Network's Reality Show, "Lindsay"
"She was born into an orphan’s chaos and lived the shadowy Los Angelean life of a Raymond Chandler character—losing her soul in a struggle for acceptance, and then her life trying to re-find it."
"It was obvious that the pale, big-eyed girl was someone you like—compelling and astonishingly natural. No question that Andy Hardy’s other girls—Lana Turner and Esther Williams and the rest—were the sort that come and go, the ones a smart girl waits out. As Judy once said about Lana (in real life, after Lana married one of Judy’s crushes), “It’s like talking to a lampshade.”"
