Professional Experience
After graduating from Cal Poly SLO in 2006, Tom Sanders moved to the Los Angeles area (Redondo Beach, CA) to start his career as a photographer. He loves surfing and the easygoing beach lifestyle. His photographic coffee table book THE LAST GOOD WAR: THE FACES AND VOICES OF WWII was published with Welcome Books/Rizzoli at the age of 25 and his book was named “Non-Fiction Book of the Year, Editors Choice” by the Forewords Review Magazine and is the youngest author to ever achieve this award. With big ambitions after six years in Los Angeles, Tom, his wife Allison, and their Maine Coone cat packed their bags and moved to the San Francisco bay area and received his masters in photography from San Jose State University in 2014.
He now lives in the San Francisco bay area, and shoots for a wide variety of clients; from Variety and Russian Esquire magazines to Target and Play Station. He has spoken at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Idaho Historical Society, WWII Museum in
