Roll Call: Ampush, HKA, Inc. and Seeking Alpha

Ampush announced that it has appointed Rick Cotton, an ad industry veteran with deep experience building and scaling fast-growing tech sales organizations, as its new CRO. Cotton brings over 15 years of experience and a solid track record of leading diverse digital organizations for disruptive companies in early stage areas, including native, programmatic and digital audio advertising. Most recently, he served as head of global advertising for Sequoia-backed TuneIn, a popular digital radio app, where he led global sales, platform partnerships and ad operations. Prior to that, he was a SVP/GM at Monster, where he launched and grew the company’s consumer advertising business while overseeing strategic operations. In his new role, Cotton will be responsible for the expansion of Ampush’s national sales team, and will work to ensure continued world-class customer service as the company scales. He’ll also play a key role in further developing and executing Ampush’s go-to-market strategy, working to continually collect market feedback in order to drive product enhancements and innovations. HKA, Inc. Marketing Communications hired Andrew King and Lauren Stracner as account managers to lead many of the agency’s current and future client accounts. King and Stracner will be responsible for day-to-day account management, including the creation of strategic communication programs and the implementation of tactics aimed at producing measurable results across an array of client industries. King, a former award-winning real estate journalist, will manage select financial and professional services clients for HKA, including Farmers & Merchants Bank, Haskell & White LLP and First American Trust. Stracner will oversee a number of HKA’s clients in diverse industries, including Alzheimer’s Association Orange County, Fairhaven Memorial Park, Electron Beam Engineering, Inc. and Crystal Cove Alliance. Prior to joining HKA, Stracner led high-impact awareness campaigns, conducted media outreach and coordinated trade show logistics in the video game, telescope and smart-house engineering industries. Roll Call: ‘The New Yorker’, Ampush and Hearst Newspapers

The New Yorker has named Breda O’Reilly as its new advertising director. She comes to the magazine from The Guardian, where she served as its director of sales since last year. Prior to The Guardian, Breda spent three years at The Atlantic, first as advertising manager and then as advertising director. She was responsible for sales strategy and implementation for,, and During her tenure, Breda and her team increased revenue by 136%, working with such clients as Goldman Sachs, Dow, BMW, and Novartis, among many others. Ampush announced the recent hiring of Andrew Hersam as director of sales. Ampush, founded in 2009, is a social technology company that helps brands and agencies advertise on Facebook. The company expects Andrew to play a key contributing role in continuing to drive Ampush forward during a period of expansion and investment. Hersam is an accomplished media executive with more than 20 years of experience managing print, digital, TV, and event brands. Hersam was most recently global marketing solutions, client partner at Facebook with Facebook’s financial services business. Prior to Facebook, Hersam served as EVP, media for the Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI). (Release)

Hearst Newspapers announced that Mike DeLuca, 45, has been named senior vice president, digital for Hearst Newspapers. Hearst Newspapers’ digital footprint includes 30 websites, 11 mobile sites and 33 apps that together reach more than 50 million unique readers each month. DeLuca last served as chief revenue officer at Savored, which was acquired by Groupon in 2012. At Groupon, he most recently served as VP of sales and before that, was senior vice president, sales and operations for AOL Local. DeLuca is also on the advisory board of Yodle, where he was senior vice president of sales and marketing from 2008 to 2010. He was vice president of sales and account management at Yahoo! from 2003 to 2008, and prior to that, held various sales and management roles in the storage technology sector. (Release)
