Alberto Mier y Terán Named EVP of Univision Television Group

univision_smallAlberto Mier y Terán has been named executive vice president of Univision Television Group. In his new role, Mier y Terán will continue to serve as general manager of KMEX and KFTR in Los Angeles.

In a statement, Univision Television Group president Kevin Cuddihy said Mier y Terán has “done a tremendous job as the general manager of KMEX.”

“He has proved to be a great leader of his team as well as consistently delivering his plans. Since his arrival at UTG four years ago, he has played an integral role in the success of the entire organization,” Cuddihy said.

Mier y Terán has worked at Univision for more than 10 years.

Leonardo Ruíz Named Station Manager of Univision Bakersfield

Univision Communications has named Leonardo Ruíz vice president and station manager for Univision Bakersfield.

In his new role, he will be based out of Bakersfield and report to Alberto Mier y Terán, the senior vice president and general manager of Univision Los Angeles.

“Leo has been one of the most enthusiastic and team-oriented individuals I have worked with,” Mier y Terán said in a statement. “He will be a driving force in continuing to deliver on our commitment of informing, entertaining and empowering our community in Bakersfield.”

Ruíz comes from KMEX, Univision’s flagship station in Los Angeles, where he was the national account manager. More in Univision’s official announcement after the jump. Read more

KMEX to Host Los Angeles Mayoral Debate

KMEX, the Univision station in Los Angeles, will host a Spanish-language mayoral debate between Democratic candidates Eric Garcetti and Wendy Greuel next week.

KMEX is partnering with Mi Familia Vota Education Fund to host the debate. León Krauze and Gabriela Teissier will moderate the hourlong debate, which will air April 19 at 6pmPT.

“This mayoral debate is part of Univision’s on-going commitment to the Los Angeles Hispanic community in providing the most comprehensive coverage surrounding the topics of most relevance to them,” KMEX general manager Alberto Mier y Terán said in a statement. “We hope this debate will motivate our community to exercise their right to vote on May 21.”
