Sports Anchor Nick Coit Leaving WABI

nick coit wabiSports anchor Nick Coit is leaving WABI, the CBS affiliate in Bangor, when his contract expires this week. The Bangor Daily News has details:

Coit’s two-year contract expires Thursday and there were contract discussions but, he said, “it is in my best interest to make the jump.

“I love this job. I love the people up here. It has been awesome,” said Coit, who turns 25 on December 23. “But it’s time to take the next step. I’m young and I have big goals. And I don’t have a personal connection here.”

He said he doesn’t have another job lined up as yet, but he wants to continue as a television sports anchor-reporter. “I’ve had a couple of opportunities come my way but they haven’t been what I’m looking for,” said Coit, a native of Plymouth, Mass. “I want to keep moving up. I’d like to find a job in a mid-major market. Not a big city but a bigger place (than Bangor).”

Nick Coit Joining WABI in Bangor As Sports Reporter

Nick Coit, currently a sports producer at Fox O&O WFXT in Boston, is moving in front of the camera next week as he takes over as the sports anchor-reporter at WABI in Bangor.

“This will be my first on-air gig and that’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” Coit told the Bangor Daily News. “I had a real nice opportunity with Fox in Boston but this is truly the direction I want to go.”

The 22-year-old replaces Prescott Rossi, who left recently to join Rochester’s WROC, at the CBS-affiliate. WABI news director Jim Morris, who selected Coit from a pool of 50 applicants, said Coit is “a good fit” for the station.
