On the Move, 7/23/13

Ana Cabrera joins CNN as a correspondent and anchor in the network’s new Denver bureau. Cabrera comes from KMGH in Denver, where she was the morning anchor.

Patrick Fazio joins KSHB as weekday morning anchor. Fazio moves to Kansas City from Terre Haute, Ind., where he was the primary anchor for six years.

Matt Flener, previously an anchor and reporter for KUSA in Denver and KXAN in Austin, is the new weekday morning anchor at KCWE in Kansas City. In his new role, he will also report on sister station KMBC.

Pablo Pereira has been named weekday evening meteorologist at KTTV, the Fox O&O in Los Angeles. He was previously working for the station on a freelance basis. Read more

Patrick Fazio Set to Join KSHB in Kansas City

Patrick Fazio is joining KSHB, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, later this month.

According to recent tweets, Fazio will join the station’s morning newscast. Jay Curtis, the station’s former morning anchor, signed off from KSHB in April.

Fazio comes to KSHB from WTWO in Terre Haute, where he anchors the 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts. He has also worked at stations in Springfield, Ill. and Idaho Falls.

10 Local Stations Win SPJ Awards

Several local stations have won Sigma Delta Chi awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.

Awards were given to a small-market and large-market station in five categories — breaking news coverage, documentaries, feature reporting, investigative reporting and public service in television journalism.

Large market winners were WISH in Indianapolis, KLAS in Las Vegas, News 12 Westchester, KPHO in Phoenix and WIVB in Buffalo. Small market station winners were WGXA in Macon, GA, KOMU in Columbia, KCRG in Cedar Rapids, WVUE in New Orleans and WTWO in Terre Haute, IN.
