WPEC To Move 7:00 p.m. Newscast, Replace it with ‘Entertainment Tonight’

WPEC, the CBS affiliate for West Palm Beach, is moving its 7:00 p.m. newscast to CW affiliate WTVX at 10:00 p.m. and running “Entertainment Tonight” in its place.

WPEC told TVSpy, current 7:00 p.m. anchors Stephanie Watson and Ben Becker will continue to anchor the 10:00 p.m. show which debuts in January 2014. The WPEC 7:00 p.m. show will be replaced by “ET” on September 10.

According to GossipExtra, anchors Becker and Watson discovered the change after seeing promos about the switch.

>UPDATE: WPEC general manager Michael Pumo told TVSpy, “The entire 7p anchor team was told by me, in my office about the move before it was announced to the station and the general public.  Promos for ET began in mid-July nearly a month afterwards.”

On the Move, 3/18/13

Don Dahler has been named a Staff Correspondent for CBS News’ New York Bureau.  Don was previously an anchor/reporter for WCBS in New York.

Jaqueline London joins WCAU in Philadelphia as a Monday through Friday afternoon anchor/reporter. She previously worked at WKMG in Orlando.

Sheena Parveen has been named the weekday 11pm meteorologist at WCAU in Philadelphia, in addition to her afternoon duties.

Deborah Takahara has been named a primary evening anchor at KDVR in Denver, where she has worked since 2006. Read more

After 2 Years Without a Contract, Stephanie Watson Will Leave Pittsburgh’s KDKA

After five years as an anchor for CBS owned-and-operated KDKA in Pittsburgh, Stephanie Watson‘s last day on the air will be Sunday.

Watson has worked the last two years without a contract. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Watson — who has been splitting time with Kristine Sorensen as weekday evening news anchor since January — was hoping to be named the permanent successor to Patrice King Brown, who retired earlier this year.

But last week, the station announced former CBS correspondent Susan Koeppen would take over the nightly anchor duties. Watson turned in her resignation on September 12, the same day KDKA announced that Koeppen was joining the station. Read more
