Course Details

Brad Schreiber brings his background as an award-winning screenwriter, a producer, critic and former development executive to the process of commenting on pages brought in each week by students, as they complete a script within the length of the lab. The first session will include an overview of screenwriting fundamentals and include produced film development case histories.

Among the areas to be included in the compassionate but incisive critiquing of work:
  • Potential audience for script
  • Balance of story versus character
  • Comparison with produced work in the same genre
  • Issues of tone, pacing, inventiveness, mythic structure, etc.

Students will bring in photocopied pages each week for the instructor and fellow lab participants for analysis.
