Course Details

The fashion world is full of glitz, glamour, hot models, Hollywood stars, fabulous clothing, and everything in between. From the runway to the red carpet, everyone wants a piece of the fashion industry. For a journalist, this can mean getting paid to write about something you are passionate about -- and you don't need a background or a degree in fashion to do it.

In this interactive seminar, designed for beginners just looking to break into fashion writing, you will be provided with information and resources to get started in a career as a fashion writer. You'll walk away with a list of magazine and PR contacts specific to the fashion industry, and invaluable information about breaking into the business.

In this seminar, you will learn:

  • Your options in the world of fashion writing
  • How to identify designers
  • The lingo and nuts and bolts of the industry
  • How to write visual and moving copy and the "DNA" of a fashion story
  • The resources you will need to keep up with constantly changing trends
  • How to weave through the maze of PR pitches and understand how product placement works
  • How to write for your target audience and translate trends from runway to real-life

Please note, this seminar focuses on fashion writing and is not designed for those looking on tips for how to get published.
