Beauty editors are the do-everything glamazons of the magazine industry. One morning you may interview a big name actress about her obsession with liquid eyeliner, and then after lunch with a PR person, you spend your afternoon resolving the proper credit and caption of a new lipgloss. The perks are great (you'll never actually buy shampoo again). The hours are long. But beauty departments are all hands on, all the time. You learn everything -- from running photo shoots to writing and editing copy to going on market appointments, product launches and press trips. In this course, you'll learn the difference between being a self-proclaimed "beauty-product junkie" and a discriminating beauty editor, how to find great interview sources, and how to make your beauty writing come alive and not sound like instructions on a shampoo bottle.
