Course Details

Everywhere you look, you see copy. Some is purely informational, but most of it subtly (or not-so-subtly) works to affect how you think, feel, and ultimately act. Copywriters craft all of the words you encounter in a day, and although there usually isn't a byline involved, there is good money. The work not only pays, it can also be fun, creative and full of variety.

Any organization that promotes, sells, advertises, and communicates is looking for people who can write clear, persuasive, attention-grabbing copy. After all, it can't be automated with computers (yet). Learn how to refine your writing skills to produce copy that competes in this lucrative market.

In this seminar, you will learn:

  • The difference between writing and copywriting
  • Copywriting basics: writing headlines, taglines, Web and brochure writing, and print ads
  • What branding is and how to create a written brand or voice
  • How a single message translates from a printed brochure to web and advertising, and even to signage, semi trucks, t-shirts, and product tags and packaging
  • The ins and outs of collaborating with designers
  • The importance of brainstorming and developing multiple concepts
  • How to develop specialty areas then build on them to get more work
  • How to prepare and present a copywriting portfolio
  • Where to look for writing work and what to charge once you're ready for the job
