Joel Reese began his career humbly, reporting on zoning hearings in Missoula, Montana. Since then, he's been anthologized for his story on the near-overdose of former NFL star Golden Richards, won awards for his coverage of a massive California forest fire, and been nominated for a National Magazine Award for a package on Chicago's diviest dive bars. His interview subjects range from Harrison Ford to Michael Jordan, and his work has appeared in Spin, Details, Texas Monthly, Chicago, playboy.com, and The Best American Sports Writing of 1996.
