The most successful writers understand how the book publishing industry works and know how to navigate the complex waters of the industry. Knowledge is power. By understanding the realities of publishing (not everyone receives a six-figure advance) you'll be able to find ways to maintain a successful writing career.

Felicia Pride
Felicia Pride is a writer, consultant, and teacher living in New York City. Through her work as a publishing consultant she's worked with bestselling and award-winning authors, independent presses, and major publishers including Harpercollins, Harvard Health Publications, and South End Press. She is also a regular contributor to Publishers Weekly and other publications. Her forthcoming book Beats and Life will be published by Thunder's Mouth Press/Avalon in 2007. She teaches at the College of New Rochelle and holds a M.A in writing and publishing from Emerson College.
