Course Details

Television is a producer's medium, and being a successful producer entails a great deal more than occupying a spacious corner office, barking out orders, and collecting Emmys. How do you sell your idea? Once you've sold it, what will being the show runner involve? What sort of work experience builds the skills required to become a show runner? How do you get your idea produced even if you don't yet have all this experience?

This seminar will tell you how to best pitch your project in this highly competitive industry and will address the combination of tried and true leadership techniques, management tactics, business savvy and creativity required to get the most out of your original concept.

In this seminar, you will learn:

  • How to position yourself as a credible executive producer
  • How to break through without having grown up in the television industry
  • How to crystallize your concept to make it viable to network executives
  • Tips about the development/selling process
  • Pointers on successful casting
  • Retaining rights (or not) and creative control
