Course Details

Build on your knowledge of television news reporting in this 4-week course designed as a sequel to our introductory TV news reporting class. Learn more about what it takes to be a good television news reporter, including: meeting deadlines, preparing and delivering "live shots," and conducting on-camera interviews. If you've decided to pursue a career in television journalism, but need further experience and instruction, then this course is for you. Students will get time in front of the camera, work with a professional cameraman, and perfect their television writing skills.

In this class, you will learn how to:
  • Turn around a quick script
  • Work on your "tracking" voice
  • Report on the scene
  • Find a job in TV news
  • Psyche yourself up for a live shot
By the end of this class, you will have:
Additional material added to your professional reel, which is yours to keep after the class. You will also have access to complete footage from this class for your demo reel.

Wendy Gillette
Wendy Gillette is a television reporter and anchor with more than 10 years experience. She currently freelance reports for CBS NewsPath, providing reports for all the CBS affiliates in the country, News 12 Long Island and News 12 Westchester. She is also an anchor for News 12. She received her bachelor's degree from Rutgers College and her master's degree from Boston University.
