Why You Didn't Get The Interview: The Cover Letter

Every now and then, a mediabistro.com student or party attendee will confide in me a theory he or she has developed: that when you apply for a job you find on the mediabistro.com Web site, your resumé and cover letter go into either a black hole, or a pile way too huge for any HR team to sort through. This is why they feel it is practically guaranteed that their application is never actually considered, and why the person confiding in me has applied to more than 100 jobs without receiving a call for an interview.
