Circulation: 60,000 (150,000 readers) Background: A glossy city magazine distributed on the street, alt-weekly-style, Urbanite strives to serve as an intelligent and thoughtful lens on important news relevant to its Baltimore readership. Founded in the late '90s by Laurel Durenberger as a forum for discussing city issues, it has gone through a mini-redesign since David Dudley became editor-in-chief in August of 2007. He and managing editor Marianne Amoss decreased page size, added a wine column and arts section, and expanded the events calendar and food section. While all of these changes are meant to give Urbanite a more traditional city-mag feel, Dudley says that it remains an ideas-driven publication that "tries to touch on national and international trends, but by localizing them to Baltimore."... ![]() The How to Pitch series is worth its weight in gold.
