Things are probably going to get a lot worse before they get any better for the rank-and-file of
The Wall Street Journal. Speaking at his own company's conference this week,
Rupert Murdoch ruminated that he needs to get the structure of the paper right before adding any significant talent. How is the current structure wrong, you might ask? Well, he doesn't like that every story is "touched or edited by 8.3 people." Left unsaid was how many people should be touching stories and whether the others should be culled.
