Whoever coined the phrase "failing to plan is planning to fail" was probably a publicist. That's because planning is crucial to almost every aspect of a publicist's job -- from crafting a media pitch to prepping a client for an interview. However, nothing in PR is more affected by planning (or lack thereof) than an event -- especially a launch event. When a client is ready to bring their product or service to the marketplace, launch events -- if done right -- are great ways to generate press and consumer awareness. However, in the wrong hands, a launch event can ruin a brand before it even gets off the ground....
