7 Ways to Boost Traffic for Your Story

In March, an article on scientology from 1991 climbed onto Time's list of most-read articles years after it was published thanks to a pickup by Wikipedia. Scientology does get a lot of buzz these days, but a story from 20 years ago?
"The Scientology traffic spike was due to Wikipedia simply making a decision on their own to select the story as their 'featured article' for that day on their home page," says Richard Behar, author of the piece.
What does it take to get a ton of traffic for a particular story? Do you write copy just to increase traffic? Not exactly, according to Brian Clark, founder of Copyblogger, a site that provides tips on SEO copywriting. "Pay attention to the top stories of the day, but make sure you have something to say," Clark advises. "Traffic for traffic's sake is a waste of time."
